Duke street community house header

Duke Street Community House is a not for profit incorporated community organisation that has been delivering local, low cost and quality programs & services to our community since 1975.

The house was originally started to support students and families at Tottenham Technical School and was owned by the Education Department. In 1984 the property was handed over to the then City of Sunshine which supported the formation of a local Committee of Management. Currently the building is owned and maintained by Brimbank City Council and in 2009 the Committee of Management entered into a partnership agreement with council that has consolidated this relationship and provided further resources to our local community.

Over the years the committee together with staff and volunteers developed a range of community education programs for adults. These programs have become a major focus of the house and students are able to enrol in both accredited and pre – accredited courses. The house also offers children’s programs such as playgroup and occasional childcare together with community development programs and projects that reflect community needs. The house also contributes to the Neighbourhood House sector throughout Victoria by participating in local area clusters and networks and is a member of the Neighbourhood House & Learning Centres Association (ANHLC), the peak body for Victoria.
